Charlestown Bridge (North Washington Street)

The Charlestown Bridge, officially known as the North Washington Street Bridge, connects Charlestown to downtown Boston. In need of an upgrade for many years, it operates with one lane of travel closed. For the past two or three years this has created frequent congestion. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has designed a new bridge and scheduled four years of construction to begin by next year. Check our website for notices of meetings on the community consultation and design process.
